RABBIT LEARNS ABOUT LETTERS
By Darin Phillips, Illustrated by Patrice Aguilar
This is the first of four books that teach the alphabet. In this book Rabbit will learn about the symbols that represent spoken sounds that make up words.
It is great for children that are curious about:
- * Spelling their own name
- * The symbols that adults use to represent letters
- * Types of letters (e.g. lowercase and uppercase)
Through six short stories, Rabbit the Dog gets introduced to the alphabet - starting with the symbols that spell her name (which she thinks is her personal logo - like a restaurant). In the second and third stories, she notices that her name looks slightly different, depending on who wrote it. This will spark your child’s curiosity. Then Rabbit notices that a computer keyboard has all of the letters and numbers on it, so she wants to try it out. The fifth story finds Rabbit diving into the sounds that each alphabet symbol represents, and she ends up learning about nouns, adjectives, and verbs. (“If Rabbit can do it, so can I!”) In the final story, Rabbit the Dog starts tracing the letters that make up her logo (her name).
